CRAIGLEITH – Ottawa siblings Hannah and Jared Schmidt captured silver medals Saturday in a World Cup ski cross event at Ontario’s Craigleith Ski Club.
It was the first podium finish this season for both athletes. Hannah Schmidt earned her 10th career medal, while Jared Schmidt captured his seventh.
Switzerland’s Fanny Smith won the women’s big final, with Schmidt second. Italy’s Jole Galli captured the bronze medal while Marielle Thompson of Whistler, B.C., finished 10th.
France’s Youri Duplessis-Kergomard won the men’s event ahead of Schmidt. Sweden’s David Mobaerg took bronze.
