MILTON – Wrong Sounds Right, with Todd McCarthy driving, set a stakes and track record while matching the world record to win the Grade 1 Mohawk Million Saturday night at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
The final time was a blistering one minute 51.1 seconds. The previous stakes record for the Mohawk Million was 1:51.4, set by Apex in last year’s event.
Access Now held on for second, D A Johnny Cash was third and Nevis Peak finished fourth.
In full control in the upper stretch, Wrong Sounds Right trotted with authority down the lane, while a game Access Now looked to collar the heavy favourite but to no avail.
In the Metro Pace earlier Saturday, Eastie Boy powered his way down the lane to take the Grade 1 $1 million race.
Eastie Boy earned the three-quarter length win in a career-best one minute 49.2 seconds. Th Theo was second and Global Choice was third.
