BAKU – Canada’s Taylor Ruck continued her medal haul at the World Aquatics Swimming World Cup with a silver in the 200-metre backstroke and bronze in the 100-metre freestyle in Azerbaijan on Saturday.
The 26-year-old from Kelowna, B.C., reached the podium a fourth time in three days after earning silver in the 100-metre backstroke and bronze in 50-metre freestyle at Baku’s Aquatic Palace.
Ruck, a four-time Olympic medallist in relays, touched the wall a 10th of a second after Anna Peplowski of the United States in the short-course (25-metre pool) backstroke.
Freya Constance Colbert of Britain finished third just over three seconds back of Peplowski and Ruck. Ruck’s teammate Brooklyn Douthwright of Riverview, N.B., placed fourth.
Ruck raced to third in freestyle just over a second and a half back of victor Marrit Steenbergen of the Netherlands. Katarzyna Wasick of Poland placed second.
Saskatoon’s Blake Tierney was fourth in the men’s 100-metre backstroke.
