NINGBO – Leylah Fernandez is off to the Ningbo Open final.

The Laval, Que., native beat Czechia’s Marie Bouzková 6-3, 7-5 on Saturday in the women’s singles semifinal of the tennis tournament.

Fernandez had three aces to three double faults but broke on eight of her 18 chances in the match.

Meanwhile, she saved 10 of Bouzková’s 15 break-point opportunities.

The 24-year-old Fernandez just needs one more win to earn her second WTA title of the year, although it will be a stiff test.

The Canadian will take on world No. 1 Elena Rybakina, the defending champion of the event, who beat Diana Shnaider 6-3, 7-5 in the other semifinal.
